As an Advanced Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and positive outcomes.

General Summary

Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the PCA performs vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Provide basic care such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and team communication.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve care quality.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.

Certification/License

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and bending.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
