This role serves as the primary point of contact for physician clinics, managing telephone communications and front desk operations with professionalism and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promptly answer and direct incoming calls.
- Warmly greet patients and visitors, ensuring a respectful and compassionate interaction.
- Effectively communicate with patients and their families, keeping them informed throughout their visit.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information into the system.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols.
- Assist patients and guardians with patient portal setup and registration processes.
- Conduct patient confirmation calls and guide patients to complete necessary paperwork via the patient portal.
- Handle messages promptly and update patient records as needed during each encounter.
- Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments at the time of service.
- Demonstrate accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and maintain punctuality and attendance standards.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
Preferably two years of experience in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting, with demonstrated responsibility and customer service skills.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Work Environment
Medical office setting with occasional exposure to infectious diseases and challenging interactions. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
