Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and interview patients or their representatives, gathering precise demographic and insurance details for medical and financial records.
• Obtain proper admission consent for treatment authorization, information release, insurance verification, and payment guarantees.
• Verify insurance information electronically and resolve any discrepancies before finalizing registration.
• Inform patients of their rights in compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.
• Respond promptly and effectively to patient inquiries, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Collect applicable copays and direct patients to appropriate treatment areas post-registration.
• Recognize registrations requiring pre-authorization or pre-certification and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare Secondary Payor rules, HIPAA privacy standards, patient rights, advanced directives, EMTALA, and accreditation requirements.
• Provide financial assistance information and ensure completion of HIPAA acknowledgments.
• Communicate respectfully with patients, healthcare offices, and coworkers, while managing time efficiently and maintaining an organized workspace.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference given to candidates with certificates or diplomas in Medical Front Office, CNA, or Medical Terminology.

Experience

At least six months of experience in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings is necessary. Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment is essential.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time constraints.
• Capability to concentrate on variable tasks for short periods and repetitive tasks for longer durations.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, assist and transport patients in wheelchairs, and lift up to 10 pounds.
• Willingness to work varying shifts as needed.
