Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Oncology Nurse Coordinator. This role supports physicians and mid-level providers by delivering comprehensive assessment, treatment, testing, and education to oncology patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of oncology and hematology treatment plans, ensuring adherence to established protocols for a safe and clean environment.
• Continuously evaluate patient care plans and prepare patients for appointments by screening and verifying necessary assessments and test results.
• Manage and update medication and summary lists in collaboration with providers.
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in medical records.
• Verify medication dosages for treatment plans and assist with examinations and procedures within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with internal and external ancillary services, including specialty pharmacies and supportive services, to optimize patient care.
• Provide counseling and education to patients and families on all aspects of oncology and hematology, including preventive measures.
• Maintain authorization for patient medications and procedures, oversee sample medications, and ensure quality control.
• Administer medications safely according to protocol and assist in maintaining emergency equipment.
• Coordinate inpatient and outpatient procedures and admissions, ensuring all instruments are sterile and ready for use.
• Access implanted ports using sterile techniques as required.
• Work collaboratively with care teams to maintain a safe and effective continuum of care.
• Document treatments, observations, and investigational protocol information as needed, ensuring patient understanding of investigational drug materials.
• Maintain ongoing oncology education in line with accrediting agency requirements.
• Demonstrate accountability, adaptability, and professionalism while managing workload and meeting attendance standards.

Education

Graduation from an accredited RN program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current RN license in a Compact state or the state of Missouri.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) is preferred.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions
