Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical center serving the heart of the Midwest. This full-time Emergency Department Technician I role offers an opportunity to provide vital support in a fast-paced emergency setting. Under the guidance of the Emergency Services leadership, you will perform both direct and indirect patient care activities that enhance patient safety and improve outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs, 12-lead EKGs, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing such as glucometer readings.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including dressing, bathing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
• Apply and remove splints, backboards, cervical collars, and KED devices; provide simple wound care and dressings.
• Support medical exams and procedures by setting up equipment and assisting clinicians.
• Monitor physical restraints and ensure patient safety.
• Provide indirect care such as patient transportation, stocking supplies, cleaning patient rooms, and answering call lights.
• May serve as Lead Technician, facilitating communication, problem-solving, and task coordination within the Emergency Department.
• Maintain professionalism, effective communication, and documentation in electronic health records.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience in direct patient caregiving roles is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Certification as PCA or CNA preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Class E driving license within 90 days of hire, if applicable.
• CEVO certification to be completed within 90 days of hire or as available.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Expect intermittent exposure to infectious diseases, communicable diseases via blood and body fluids, occasional radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, and biohazardous materials. The environment may include interactions with hostile individuals.
