General Summary

Under supervision, the intern will assist in patient care tailored to age and developmental needs, supporting daily living activities and clinical procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene assistance such as bathing, grooming, and oral care.
• Perform skin care and take precautions to prevent skin breakdown.
• Assist with physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
• Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, and monitoring dietary restrictions.
• Collect specimens, take vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
• Perform specialized care such as sit baths, postmortem care, and application of medical devices like TED hose and ice packs.
• Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives, fostering teamwork and employee engagement.
• Carry out technical nursing procedures within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, IV discontinuation, suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and patient assessments.
• Educate patients and families in collaboration with primary nurses.
• Maintain clear communication with supervising nurses and promptly report any changes in patient condition.
• Document all care activities thoroughly and accurately in medical records.

Education

Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience

Entry-level position; no prior experience required.
