Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) specializing in surgical orthopedics. Under the guidance of licensed nurses (RN, LPN, or shift managers), you will provide compassionate, direct patient care that supports recovery and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to licensed nurses.
• Perform essential patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly, ensuring a safe and positive care environment.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to aid clinical decision-making and communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience in a similar role is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential through the state is preferred. Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience will be required to complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
