This role involves performing clinical testing across various disciplines including hematology, immunology, microbiology, clinical microscopy, chemistry, coagulation, and blood banking, all while adhering to strict regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurately perform and verify routine and specialized laboratory tests, ensuring timely and proper documentation.
• Handle reagent preparation and storage, troubleshoot analyzer issues, and maintain quality control with thorough documentation of any failures and corrective actions.
• Prioritize workload effectively to meet testing requests and maintain a balanced workflow aligned with department productivity goals.
• Communicate critical results promptly to healthcare providers, documenting all communications in compliance with accrediting agency requirements.
• Assist in training new staff and support management in updating procedural manuals and policies.
• Conduct ongoing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical assessments, troubleshooting specimen issues for both in-house and reference testing.

Education: An associate degree in Medical Technology or a related scientific field is required.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary for registered Medical Laboratory Technicians.

Certification/License: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technician by recognized agencies such as ASCP, ISCLT, HHS, AMT, or NCA is required or candidates must be board eligible upon hire.

Mental and Physical Requirements: This position demands close mental and visual attention for extended periods and the ability to work under stressful conditions due to time constraints and patient criticality. Approximately 90% of the time is spent moving throughout the department or working at a lab station, with the ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds.

Working Conditions: The role involves constant exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious materials in an air-conditioned environment with moderate noise levels. Flexibility to work various shifts is required.
