Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care encompassing medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all aligned with institutional guidelines.
• Engage in quality monitoring and process improvement initiatives as directed by leadership to enhance patient outcomes.
• Administer conscious sedation, peri-procedural pharmacologic agents, and emergency medications safely and effectively.
• Conduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, promote safety, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Utilize critical thinking skills in patient evaluation and documentation, ensuring compliance with quality measures and accurate record-keeping.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families to support optimal care experiences and outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability within the unit.
• Adapt positively to healthcare dynamics and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Document procedural details including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, medications, and supplies used during catheterization procedures.
• Interpret hemodynamic waveforms and data collected during cardiac catheterization.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of critical care or equivalent nursing experience is necessary. Experience in interventional cardiac catheterization is advantageous.

Certification and Licensure

Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or through a compact licensure agreement. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position demands significant mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent heavy lifting, prolonged standing while wearing lead aprons, and the ability to perform CPR. The nurse must be capable of applying pressure to catheter insertion sites for extended periods.
