Key Responsibilities
- Promptly answer and direct telephone calls with courtesy.
- Welcome patients warmly and communicate clearly with them and their families.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information into the system.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols.
- Assist patients and guardians with patient portal setup and registration processes.
- Make confirmation calls and guide patients to complete necessary paperwork online.
- Handle messages efficiently and update patient records during each encounter.
- Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments at the time of service.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability in a fast-paced environment.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
Preferably two years in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting, with demonstrated customer service skills and responsibility.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including walking, standing, lifting up to 35 lbs, and various movements such as stooping and reaching. The work environment is a medical office with potential exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions.
