As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on the Float Pool, you will provide direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical competence and adhering to ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Deliver quality nursing care such as medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
• Operate within the Practical Nurse Scope of Practice and organizational policies to support positive patient outcomes and safety.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or Shift Managers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Document all care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.

Experience

One year of practical nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

• Current LPN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
• Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
