Job Summary

The Emergency Department Educator develops orientation and ongoing training for nurses, technicians, coordinators, and agency personnel. You will lead certification courses such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, BLS, and MANDT, and coordinate simulation drills to prepare staff for critical care scenarios. Your expertise will help maintain clinical competencies, support protocol development for trauma, stroke, cardiac, and sepsis care, and promote adherence to evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver comprehensive orientation programs for new and existing ED staff.
• Conduct continuous education sessions on emergency protocols, clinical procedures, and new medical technologies.
• Facilitate certification and recertification programs to ensure staff maintain required credentials.
• Organize simulation-based training and collaborate with simulation coordinators for realistic emergency scenarios.
• Assess clinical skills through direct observation and provide personalized coaching to enhance performance.
• Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols aligned with best practices.
• Collaborate with leadership on quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization.
• Serve as a clinical resource, offering guidance on complex cases and evidence-based care.
• Participate actively in patient safety and quality assurance programs.

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years in emergency nursing; prior experience in nursing education or staff development is highly desirable.

Licensure and Certifications

Current RN license in the practicing state. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and NIHSS. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential is a plus.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands significant mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is frequent. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule with potential evening or weekend hours based on training needs.
