As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being.

General Summary

Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, you will assist with vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for recovery and healing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform basic care duties such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a Patient Care Assistant training academy is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
