General Summary
Under the general supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Associate Patient Care Assistant provides direct patient care in a perioperative setting. This role is essential in supporting patient safety and comfort throughout their care experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and promptly notifies licensed nursing staff of any changes in patient condition. Performs basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. All duties are performed following hospital policies to ensure quality outcomes and patient safety. Collaborates closely with nursing staff to meet patients' basic needs and responds swiftly to patient requests to enhance their overall experience. Accurately documents all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making and communicates relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes and quality of care.

Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience
One year of related experience is preferred.

Certification/License
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential preferred. Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience are required to complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements
This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, turning, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and frequent walking.

Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
