General Summary: The Registered Dietitian plays a vital role in providing nutritional care and education to hospital patients across a regional healthcare system in the Midwest. This position involves evaluating, developing, and implementing individualized nutrition plans, including order writing and parenteral/enteral nutrition support. The dietitian also offers inpatient nutrition counseling, staff education, and intern precepting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess, develop, and implement patient nutrition care plans.
• Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to communicate assessments, interventions, and care plans.
• Provide nutritional education to inpatients to support their health and recovery.
• Identify and report any issues related to patient feeding, supplements, tube feeds, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to nutritional care, including policy development and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition is required.

Experience: At least one year of clinical dietetics experience is preferred.

Certification/License: Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and hold a valid Registered Dietitian license for the state.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, use computers, stand and walk for extended periods, teach and communicate nutrition effectively, and perform measurements and calculations.

Working Conditions: May encounter challenging conditions in patient care areas, including exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids. Work environment may include heat, noise, wet floors, and potential hazards in food production areas.
