General Summary: Under the guidance of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Assistant Patient Care Technician provides direct, compassionate care to patients. This role supports the healthcare team by ensuring patient comfort and safety in a collaborative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and promptly alert licensed nurses to any changes in patient condition.
• Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities within hospital guidelines.
• Work closely with nursing staff to meet patients' fundamental needs and respond swiftly to requests, enhancing patient safety and experience.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making by the healthcare team.
• Communicate relevant patient information effectively to improve outcomes and quality of care.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.

Certification/License: Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, bending, and other movements throughout the shift.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
