Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Student Nurse Intern in the Emergency Department. Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will engage in hands-on patient care, supporting individuals through various stages of treatment and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care tailored to age and developmental needs, assisting with daily hygiene such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
• Provide skin care while preventing breakdown, assist with physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
• Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and adhering to dietary restrictions.
• Collect specimens, perform vital signs, document intake and output, and assist with specialized care like sit baths, postmortem care, and application of medical devices.
• Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives and teamwork.
• Perform technical nursing procedures within credentialing scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, patient assessments, injections, and NG tube maintenance.
• Educate patients and families in collaboration with primary nurses and promptly report any changes in patient condition or concerns.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient care activities in medical records.

Education

Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience

Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires significant mental focus, frequent heavy lifting, turning, walking, and physical activities such as carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, and occasionally hostile individuals. Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
