Overview: Lead and oversee the daily operations of patient access departments, ensuring smooth coordination and high-quality performance. This role emphasizes data integrity and compliance with all relevant healthcare standards including Joint Commission and CMS regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Manage staffing and supervisory activities, collaborate with education coordinators and preceptors for staff development, and maintain excellent communication with patients, families, and visitors. Handle insurance processes and payment collections with professionalism and accuracy.
Education & Certifications: Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) credential is required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within a hospital or medical office environment is essential.
Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in medical terminology and MS Office applications is necessary. Must type at least 45 words per minute and demonstrate strong critical thinking, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage stress effectively is important. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with a commitment to customer service across diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate orally, see, and hear to collect information. Dexterity to operate office equipment and the capacity to lift or move weights up to 50 pounds occasionally. The role involves sitting or standing for extended periods and frequent use of computers and telephones.
