Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting both administrative and clinical needs of physicians and licensed medical staff in a dynamic outpatient setting. This role involves assisting with patient vital signs, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and well-being at all times.
- Accurately document patient care and interactions during visits and phone communications.
- Collect and process point-of-care, laboratory, and pathology samples following established protocols.
- Perform quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient education under provider guidance.
- Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as ordered by licensed providers.
- Assist providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.
- Prepare reusable instruments for sterilization and manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste disposal per OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Manage supply inventory in designated clinical areas.
- Support front desk operations including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with coding and billing processes.
- Coordinate with external healthcare partners to facilitate patient care plans.
- Monitor electronic health record communications and respond promptly.
- Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
- Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
- Conduct high-level disinfection procedures as per policy.
- Flexibility to float to other clinics as needed.
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with successful certification from recognized organizations such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.
- Physical ability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling clinical equipment.
