Overview: This full-time paramedic role involves delivering patient care and transportation services at the advanced life support level, in accordance with state certification and local medical protocols. The position supports a busy metropolitan ambulance service providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance transport.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform medical care including psychological support, airway and bleeding control, splinting, bandaging, and advanced life support procedures appropriate to certification level.
• Drive ambulance safely and maintain vehicle readiness by inspecting, cleaning, restocking, and reporting equipment issues.
• Respond promptly to calls, both routine and emergency, following established medical protocols and communication procedures.
• Document patient care accurately, including billing information and treatment details.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas including bays, locker rooms, and other facilities.
• Participate in continuing education and training sessions to maintain certifications and skills.

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current state certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 700 courses.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Experience:

• Preferred experience with advanced life support services.
• At least one year of field EMS, rescue, or related work experience is desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials, and pre-hospital care equipment.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and follow protocols precisely.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with patients, families, and healthcare personnel.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Familiarity with regional geography and healthcare facilities in the Southeastern United States.

Physical Requirements: Good speech and hearing acuity, visual observation skills, and the ability to operate emergency vehicles and navigate various physical environments.
