Overview: Join a dedicated outpatient clinic team in the Southeastern U.S. region as an Administrative Patient Representative. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate billing submissions, and efficient scheduling, all while maintaining meticulous medical records and coding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promptly register patients and collect accurate information.
- Schedule appointments for initial visits, follow-ups, and procedures with precision.
- Update and maintain new patient information and medical records.
- Handle incoming calls, directing patients to appropriate providers and appointment types.
- Collect payments including co-pays and deductibles, documenting receipts and preparing daily cash reports.
- Order and schedule outside tests as requested by providers.
- Enter ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for patient activities and procedures daily.
- Transcribe non-medical dictation and submit billing invoices under supervision.
- File, fax, and mail reports and records; compile monthly reports timely.
- Assist in tracking and notifying supply needs.
- Serve as receptionist, greeting patients and supporting clinic guest relations.
- Support non-invasive medical procedures or act as security observer when needed.
- Direct emergency messages and assist administrative/medical staff as required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; business-related coursework preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years of clerical experience preferred, especially in medical business offices or roles involving significant public contact.
Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with medical terminology and ICD-10/CPT-4 coding preferred. Proficient PC skills and typing speed of 45-55 words per minute. Strong organizational skills, tact, and ability to handle patients under stress. Effective verbal communication and auditory skills are essential.
Physical Requirements: Ability to see and read printed data and screens, manual dexterity, and capability to lift, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach.
