Overview: Join a dedicated team as an Advanced Telemetry Unit Secretary in a busy Cardiac Surgery ICU within a prominent regional medical center in the Southeastern United States. This full-time night shift role is essential for maintaining continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring and supporting clinical staff in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor cardiac rhythms vigilantly using telemetry consoles.
• Perform telemetry monitoring duties and promptly alert nursing staff to any alarms or rhythm changes.
• Notify nursing assistants or other qualified personnel regarding equipment or reception alarms such as "leads off" or "low battery."
• Print and document cardiac strip assessments every four hours, upon patient admission, during codes, upon request, and as rhythms or rates change.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, patient flow, and overall hospital operational capacity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the unit’s function.

Education and Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EKG certification is preferred.
• Healthcare experience such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Medical Technician is advantageous.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
• All new hires must complete a Dysrhythmia class and pass the associated test within 60 days of employment unless exempted by prior certification or experience.
• Ongoing competency is maintained through biannual advanced dysrhythmia testing.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a monitor technician is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Clear speech and auditory acuity for effective communication.
• Good visual acuity for patient observation.
• Capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• Potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials requiring adherence to safety protocols.
