Summary: Support the lead teacher in delivering developmental and care services for children, ensuring a nurturing and high-quality program within a child development center located in the Southeastern United States region. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children.

Major Responsibilities:

• Utilize curriculum materials and teaching methods developed by the lead teacher for individual and group activities.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to discuss program goals tailored to each child's needs.
• Assist in planning curriculum and gathering necessary materials for daily learning experiences.
• Follow the lead teacher’s guidance during classroom sessions.
• Adhere strictly to established center procedures such as diaper changing, emergency protocols, and daily schedules without direct supervision.
• Engage positively with children, serving as a constructive role model.
• Participate in parent involvement initiatives including contributing to newsletters, attending parent-teacher conferences, and meetings.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the learning environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Formal Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Early Childhood Development coursework (EDU119) plus six additional credit hours from an accredited institution.
• Out-of-state coursework must be reviewed by the appropriate state division of childhood development.
• Certification in Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, and AED from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Experience:

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a professional childcare or elementary school classroom setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of children from birth to five years old.
• Effective reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to observe and communicate about children’s behavior and needs in the classroom.

Physical Requirements: This role involves walking, standing, and lifting children and various objects as part of daily activities.
