Overview

This is a full-time, night-shift Diagnostic Medical Sonographer position embedded within a structured radiology and imaging service. Working under the direction of licensed physicians, nurse practitioners, and midwives, you will perform a broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound studies following established departmental protocols. The scope spans abdominal and pelvic imaging, obstetrical and gynecological sonography, transvaginal studies, small-parts scanning (thyroid, breast, and scrotal), and ultrasound-guided interventional procedures including biopsies, drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and aspirations.

This is not a narrow, single-focus role. The variety of examinations you will perform means your clinical knowledge is constantly engaged, and your collaboration with radiologists and other care team members is substantive and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostic ultrasound examinations -- abdominal, pelvic (OB/GYN), transvaginal, and small-parts -- in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols
• Acquire high-quality sonographic images optimized for interpretation by radiologists and other ordering providers
• Assist with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, including biopsies, aspirations, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and drainage
• Prioritize patient comfort and safety throughout every procedure, maintaining clinical professionalism and genuine empathy at all times
• Prepare, document, and maintain accurate patient records covering medical histories, imaging findings, and procedural details
• Partner with radiologists and multidisciplinary team members to review images, discuss findings, and support integrated care planning
• Perform routine quality checks and maintenance on ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance
• Stay current with evolving ultrasound technology, advanced imaging techniques, and best practices through continuing education and professional development activities

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited or otherwise approved Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology program

Licensure & Certifications

• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
• New Jersey state license as a general radiographer and/or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential required -- or must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Experience

• Prior ultrasound technology experience preferred
• New or recent graduates who meet the licensure requirements above are encouraged to apply
