This part-time, per diem position focuses on ensuring accurate patient scheduling, registration, and financial processing with a warm and professional approach.

Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing point-of-service collections. Your role supports patients by providing clear communication and assistance, ensuring a smooth and respectful experience from initial contact through their healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, maintaining data accuracy including patient identification and insurance verification.
  • Obtain necessary referrals and pre-authorizations for services.
  • Conduct registration interviews prior to patient visits.
  • Handle point-of-service collections such as co-payments and balances, including cash drawer management.
  • Operate multi-line phone systems to manage incoming calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Respond to patient inquiries with empathy, ensuring comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Complete daily administrative tasks, including mail processing and workflow improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and support team collaboration.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.

Skills and Abilities

Physical Requirements
