Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Emergency Department Director, the RN will utilize nursing knowledge and independent judgment to administer medications, assist with treatments, and support physicians and healthcare team members. The nurse will ensure accurate documentation, develop individualized care plans, and maintain compliance with nursing standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques and protocols.
• Provide timely and accurate information to healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Assess, document, and monitor patient conditions using the nursing process.
• Prepare equipment and assist providers during patient examinations and treatments.
• Accurately document patient care activities including medications, vital signs, and intake/output.
• Develop patient-specific care plans within 24 hours of admission.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in the use of supplies and pharmacy items.
• Adhere to legal and ethical standards, including obtaining appropriate consents.
• Participate in orientation, staff meetings, and ongoing training to foster teamwork and professional growth.

Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of one year of RN experience in an emergency room setting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current and unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or ENPC) certifications required.
• TNCC certification required within six months of hire.

• Strong knowledge of nursing procedures and patient care principles.
• Ability to apply age-specific growth and development principles to patient care.
• Respect for patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
