Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients accurately, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing point-of-service collections. Your professionalism and attention to detail will help maintain data integrity and support patients with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, ensuring accuracy of patient identification and insurance information.
  • Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for services as needed.
  • Conduct registration interviews prior to patient visits.
  • Collect patient financial responsibilities at point of service, including co-pays and balances, and manage daily cash drawer operations.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comfort throughout the intake process.
  • Complete daily administrative tasks, including mail processing and workflow improvement projects.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with insurance verification systems and healthcare software.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and various office equipment.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment

This full-time role offers 10-hour shifts within a 40-hour workweek, located in a regional healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest.
