Join a dynamic healthcare organization in the Pacific Northwest region seeking a dedicated Health Information Management (HIM) and Coding Manager. This role is pivotal in overseeing HIM and coding operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and optimizing departmental performance to support overall organizational goals.

Job Summary

You will lead the HIM and Coding department, managing staff, workflows, and processes to maintain accuracy and timeliness in medical record coding and documentation. Collaboration with clinical documentation improvement teams and other departments is essential to ensure complete and precise patient records. You will also oversee the release of patient information and maintain strong professional relationships across the organization to foster continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise HIM/Coding staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and competency.
• Maintain department equipment and workspace to support efficient operations.
• Ensure accurate ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding both concurrently and retrospectively.
• Monitor chart completion and documentation compliance in partnership with medical staff and other departments.
• Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Quality teams to ensure integrity of electronic medical records (EMR).
• Serve as a liaison to ensure privacy and confidentiality laws are upheld.
• Participate in EMR implementation and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Stay current with regulatory changes, compliance issues, and best practices through continuous education.
• Generate reports and analyze data to support departmental goals and improvements.
• Lead and develop staff through coaching, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
• Drive results by aligning team efforts, managing change, and fostering an environment of trust and innovation.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three years of progressive experience in coding or HIM management.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required.

Skills and Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of health information management principles and medical terminology.
• Understanding of hospital and clinic operations.
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance and regulatory standards.
• Experience with information privacy laws and release of information protocols.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediate data analysis skills.
