Job Summary: Provide compassionate, direct patient care across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics during the perioperative period. As a Circulating RN, you will maintain continuous communication with surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensure operating room readiness, manage supplies, and support the surgical team throughout procedures. Your role also includes preparing patients in the preoperative area by obtaining health histories, initiating IVs, and administering pre-op medications, as well as caring for patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) through discharge.

Essential Functions:

• Approach patients with kindness and empathy, responding therapeutically to distress or anxiety and coordinating with social services or pastoral care as needed.
• Adapt nursing care to meet the unique needs of patients from neonate to geriatric stages.
• Assess and manage cardiorespiratory status and pain effectively, educating patients and families on pain management techniques.
• Promote patient safety by minimizing healthcare errors and supporting a culture of quality and safety.
• Handle and maintain specialized surgical equipment and instruments with care.
• Monitor behavioral and physiological changes due to medications, adjusting care accordingly.
• Ensure proper patient positioning and protection during procedures, maintain aseptic technique, and prepare and clean operating rooms between cases.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with at least an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in a regional compact state.
• Current ACLS, NRP, PALS, and BLS certifications within one year of hire.
• Ability to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of operating room nursing experience preferred; willingness to train in perioperative nursing is acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in surgical nursing and certifications such as CPAN, CAPA, or CNOR are advantageous. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is also preferred.
