Job Summary: Provide both direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced emergency care environment. Demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and responsibility with minimal supervision. Efficiently triage every patient entering the emergency system, prioritizing care based on physical and psychosocial needs while managing patient flow effectively. Collaborate closely with Emergency Department physicians to communicate changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results. Respond promptly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses.

Essential Job Functions:

• Deliver direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult specialists as needed, and adjust nursing care to ensure optimal results.
• Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Utilize triage processes to assign appropriate categories and ensure timely care.
• Assess and reassess pain levels, apply suitable pain management techniques, and educate patients and families.
• Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret results accurately.
• Demonstrate cardiac monitoring knowledge, identify dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate treatment.
• Conduct waived point-of-care testing per clinical policies and interpret results to take necessary actions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications and administer them correctly according to patient age and condition, adhering to medication rights to minimize errors.
• Prepare, hang, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids as needed.
• Maintain thorough nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments.
• Ensure patient safety and reduce healthcare errors in all aspects of care.

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with up to six months of RN experience.
• Current RN license valid in the state of practice.
• Current BCLS certification.
• ACLS certification within six months of hire.
• TNCC certification within one year of hire.
• ENPC or PALS certification within one year of hire.
• NRP certification within one year of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as an RN in an Emergency Department.
