This role is essential for the continuous monitoring and surveillance of telemetry patients, ensuring timely recognition and reporting of cardiac rhythm changes and potentially life-threatening arrhythmias to the nursing staff.

Job Summary

As a Telemetry Technician, you will be responsible for observing, documenting, and interpreting cardiac rhythms, operating monitoring equipment, and responding promptly to alarms and emergency situations. Your ability to maintain composure and communicate effectively in high-stress environments will be vital.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patient cardiac rhythms and physiological parameters.
• Recognize and report rhythm abnormalities to Registered Nurses following established protocols.
• Operate and troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient monitoring and communications.
• Utilize office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, copiers, telephones, and computers.
• Support teamwork and foster a positive work environment.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Telemetry Technician or ECG interpretation course preferred.
• One to two years of experience in a patient care setting preferred.
• Telemetry Technician experience is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in ECG rhythm interpretation with the ability to pass a competency exam.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to complete a telemetry training course within three weeks of hire.
• Ability to pass annual competency testing.

Work Schedule

This position is for night shift PRN hours, typically from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
