Job Summary
As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring accurate scheduling and registration for clinic and hospital services. Your responsibilities include verifying insurance and benefits, managing referrals and pre-authorizations, and handling point-of-service collections with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and register patients using specialized software, maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
- Verify insurance coverage, referrals, and pre-authorizations for services.
- Conduct registration interviews, ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality.
- Collect payments such as co-pays and co-insurances, and manage daily cash drawer operations.
- Operate multi-line phone systems to assist and route patient inquiries promptly.
- Complete administrative tasks including mail processing and workflow improvement projects.
- Adapt to changing work environments and priorities while maintaining high-quality service.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to foster a positive and supportive workplace.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Healthcare experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
