Job Summary: Perform high-quality diagnostic echocardiography exams to capture detailed images of cardiac anatomy and pathology for cardiologist interpretation, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct various cardiac sonography exams with precision and consistency, ensuring cardiologist approval.
• Choose and set up appropriate ultrasound equipment and transducers based on exam requirements.
• Enter patient and exam data into ultrasound systems to maintain accurate records.
• Manually maneuver the transducer to obtain optimal ultrasonic images and monitor quality in real-time.
• Produce diagnostic images and submit them to PACS for review.
• Complete necessary documentation and communicate findings or irregularities through electronic health records (EHR) and other systems.
• Explain procedures to patients and assist them in positioning for optimal imaging.
• Retrieve relevant patient histories and prior studies using EHR and PACS systems.
• Track patient check-in and procedure coding accurately within EHR platforms.
• Follow departmental protocols and seek clarification when needed.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited echocardiography program qualifying for the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from ARDMS or equivalent.

Licensure & Certifications:

• Completion of an approved sonography program.
• Current RDCS certification from ARDMS or equivalent.
• CPR/BLS certification required.

Experience:

• Understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with echocardiography procedures interpreted by cardiologists.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and at least one year of echocardiography experience.
• Experience with software such as Stentor, EPIC, Microsoft Office, and internet/intranet applications is highly desirable.
