Position Overview

As an Advanced Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining vital systems such as HVAC, medical gas, boilers, chillers, air compressors, and emergency generators. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor critical utility systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs following technical manuals and regulatory codes.
• Troubleshoot complex system failures independently or with technical teams and vendors.
• Support regulatory surveys and facility audits by preparing documentation and reports.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to log activities and ensure compliance.
• Manage requisition of spare parts and tools efficiently.
• Serve as the primary contact for vendor services on advanced systems, ensuring safety and operational standards.
• Stay current with changes in codes, healthcare standards, and facility protocols.
• Respond promptly to alarms, failures, or emergencies related to utility systems.
• Participate in long-term infrastructure planning and lead technical projects.
• Assist in onboarding and mentoring junior maintenance staff.
• Provide on-call support for after-hours maintenance needs.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years in healthcare or institutional maintenance with a technical certification; or
• At least 4 years of healthcare maintenance experience with a Senior Mechanical certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months); or
• 8+ years of healthcare or institutional maintenance experience.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety.
• Familiarity with regulatory codes such as NFPA, Joint Commission, and OSHA.
• Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
